Law of the Lid

INTROUCTION: "Leadership ability is the lid that determines a person's level of effectiveness. The lower an individual's ability to lead, the lower the lid on his potential. The higher the individual's ability to lead, the higher the lid on his potential".

REVIEW: Explicitly, this law as stated by the author shows how one's leadership skill can affect his level of impact. It informs us that how wide or deep our knowledge, experience or expertise are tells the calibre of leaders we become and height of influence we exert and vice versa.

Furthermore, he supported the belief that everyone can be successful like he puts it that, "I believe that success is within the reach of just about everyone...". I couldn't help but noticing this very important discovery as he made it out that, "without leadership abilities, a person's impact is only a fraction of what it could be with good leadership".

You can agree with me that leadership ability can not be neglected in any sphere of life no matter how small and insignificant the environment might be - there is always a useFUL in a useLESS, you just have to fill the USE...

In a nutshell, this first law explains how important developing our leadership skills can be to us and the society we live in, at a point, our success might not be all that matters again but our leadership capabilities.

LESSONS:
1. Believe you can make a great leader.
2. List some of your major goals - identify which will require the participation of other people. For these activities, your leadership ability will greatly impact your effectiveness.
3. Asses your leadership ability - ask others to rate your skill on people skill, planning & strategic thinking, vision, result.
